If He Only Knew – Clay
Clay doesn’t like leaving Desmond alone.
Clay doesn’t like Desmond leaving him alone.
He knows they have to.
He knows Desmond has to go off so he can separate his own memories from those of Altaïr and Ezio, before it’s too late.
Clay gets lonely when Desmond is gone, lost in those memories.
And he hates the haunted look in Desmond’s eyes when he comes back from his own memories, having to re-live the life he grew up with, having to re-discover the memories of what he had to do.
Clay hates the fact that he needs to go through his own memories, wishes there was another way.
But he can’t go

Once they were done sightseeing for the day, they went to various mask shops, starting with the one with the masks Shaun and Desmond would wear. Once they had purchased them, Shaun helped the class figure out which of them that fit the period of time as they went from store to store.
At last – after having visited five different stores – they were pleased and started their return to the hotel.
As they arrived back at the hotel, Shaun told them they had two hours to get ready, and that the minute those two hours were up they would all meet back in the lobby.

They met up with Shaun’s class at the appointed time and sat down around a table to discuss where they wanted to start out.
After a bit of talking, it was decided that they would start out at Chiesa di Santo Stefano, move on to Campa del Ghetto Nuovo and from there find a place to buy something to eat and drink before sitting down to eat in Giardino Papadopoli.

It was the beginning of February, and the last bits of preparations were being made.
Passports, travel insurance, tickets, information, maps; it was all in a folder in their safe. Desmond talked a lot to Clay - as was 16’s real name - when he was inside the Animus.
It was a relief for both of them; because now they both had someone to share the constant fear the different thoughts, times and voices brought on with.
Even though it was too late for Clay - he’d been dead for about two months - the different ancestors still affected him as they did Desmond.
And wasn’t that a part of the reason as to why he’d decided to help Desmond? He knew what it was like, and he’d heard voices, telling him to aid this man as best he could, for there was a traitor among them.
